ABOUT LAUREN ALAINA

Lauren Alaina Kristine Suddeth, known professionally as Lauren Alaina, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress from Rossville, Georgia. She began singing at three years old and over the next few years joined a kids choir and began singing in local restaurants, before entering and winning her first talent competition, aged eight. The year after winning the talent contest at the Southern Stars Pageant, she was selected to perform on the Kids talent stage at Chattanooga's Riverbend Festival, performing on that stage annually until age 12, when she began performing on the main stage. At age 10, she won the American Model and Talent Competition against 1,500 other children and at age 12, she traveled to Nashville, as well as traveling to New York to perform at local bars on Broadway.

CAREER

2011: American Idol

Having previously unsuccessfully auditioned for America’s Got Talent twice, Alaina auditioned for the tenth season of American Idol in Nashville, Tennessee in January 2011. She went on to become the runner up in the final, ultimately coming second to Scotty McCreery.

Subsequently, she was signed to Interscope Records, Mercury Nashville and 19 Recordings, releasing her debut single, "Like My Mother Does", on May 25, 2011 and reaching number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

After appearing and performing on several talk shows such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Live with Regis and Kelly, and The Today Show, Alaina joined Scotty McCreery in presenting at the CMT Music Awards on June 8, 2011. Two days later, she made her debut on the Grand Ole Opry. She also performed with Martina McBride at the CMA Music Festival that summer. From July 6 to September 21, 2011, she toured the world with the American Idols Live! Tour 2011.

2011-2012: Wildflower

On October 11, 2011, Alaina released her debut album Wildflower. The album debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200 chart and number two on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and was the best-selling digital album for a female country artist’s debut. "Georgia Peaches," the album’s second single, was released on October 24 and reached number 28 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

That November, she performed "My Grown Up Christmas List" on CMA Country Christmas she performed for Barack Obama and Michelle Obama in the PBS special In Performance at the White House, and she sang the National Anthem at the Thanksgiving Day game between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers.

From January 20, 2012 to May 19, 2012, Alaina was the opening act for Jason Aldean’s My Kinda Party Tour, and for a few dates from April to September, she opened for Sugarland's In the Hands of the Fans Tour.

That July, she released the third single from her debut, "Eighteen Inches." In support of the release, she embarked on the 18-city Inch-By-Inch Tour from September through November, with proceeds from each show going towards various local charities, including the Special Olympics.

Alaina won the New Artist of the Years Award at the 2012 American Country Awards.

2013-2017: The Lauren Alaina EP and Road Less Traveled

May 2013 brought the release of "Barefoot and Buckwild", which reached number 34 on the Hot Country Songs chart. That month, she also released a track titled "Antarctica: One World, One Family," which serves as the theme song for the SeaWorld attraction Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin. That December, she released her cover of "My Grown Up Christmas List".

After a year away from music, Alaina returned in September 2015 with the release of the single "Next Boyfriend". This was followed by her eponymous debut EP, which was released the following month and reached number 28 on the Top Country Albums chart.

In July 2016, Alaina released the single "Road Less Traveled", which she co-wrote with Meghan Trainor and Jesse Frasure. Throughout the year, she joined Alan Jackson as the opener for his Still Keepin’ It Country Tour. On November 18, 2016, she released her cover of "O Holy Night".

January 2017 saw the release of Alaina’s second studio album, Road Less Traveled, which reached number three on the Top Country Albums chart and number 31 on the Billboard 200.

That spring, she toured with Martina McBride on her Love Unleashed Tour. She then went on to appear as support on Luke Bryan's Huntin', Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day Tour throughout June and July. That May, she featured on "Are You Happy Now" from Rascal Flatts' tenth studio album, Back to Us and also released the third single from Road Less Traveled, "Doin' Fine", which peaked at number 27 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Alaina became the only female to top both country charts in 2017 after "Road Less Traveled" topped the Country Airplay chart in April and "What Ifs" topped the Hot Country chart in October. In November 2017, she was nominated for New Artist of the Year at the 51st Annual Country Music Association Awards.

In April 2018, Alaina won the award for New Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2018 ACM Awards.  At the 2018 CMT Music Awards, she and Kane Brown won the award for "Best Collaborative Video" for "What Ifs."

2018-present: Getting Good and Getting Over Him EPs and Sitting Pretty On Top of the World

Alaina’s single, "Ladies in the '90s," was released on October 5, 2018. She was once again nominated for New Artist of the Year at the 52nd Annual Country Music Association Awards in November 2018.

Throughout 2018 and 2019, she toured with Alan Jackson, Cole Swindell, Jason Aldean, and Blake Shelton, as well as performing at several major music festivals.

She released the single, "Getting Good," on September 27, 2019, which was followed by "The Other Side" on October 22. Both songs were featured on her EP Getting Good, which was released on March 6, 2020.

The following September, she released the EP Getting Over Him, and its lead single "Getting Over Him," featuring Jon Pardi was released on February 23, 2021.

Alaina’s third studio album, Sitting Pretty On Top of the World, was released on September 3, 2021.
