ABOUT ALAINA CASTILLO

Born on November 16, 2000 and raised in Houston, Texas, Alaina Castillo is from a household where music was very much a part of her childhood. The bilingual singer-songwriter first fell in love with classic pop acts like the Beach Boys and Elvis, before becoming a passionate Usher fan in her early teens.

CAREER

2018-2019: ASMR

In 2018, Castillo uploaded her first YouTube video; an ASMR style medley of Billie Eilish songs. The video now has over 1.6 million views and led to the singer uploading more ASMR style cover videos, initially to conquer her shyness. After the success of her Sing You to Sleep series, Castillo began to upload more adventurous covers that were not aimed as lullabies and gave fans an insight into her original take on music. Castillo currently has over 858k subscribers to her YouTube channel.

2019-present: Antisocial Butterfly, The Voicenotes and Parallel Universe pt. 1

On October 18, 2019, Castillo released her debut single “I Don’t Think I Love You Anymore”. The following month, she released Antisocial Butterfly – her six-track debut EP. "No Importa" and "Mentiras" followed as singles. It was important to the singer to release English and Spanish songs to connect with fans and reflect her heritage. That December she went on tour to promote the EP.

2020 began with the release of the standalone singles "Valentine's Day" and "Oceans Waves". At the end of March, Castillo released “Tonight” – the first single from her four-track second EP, The Voicenotes/Mensajes de Voz, released both in English and Spanish. Just three months later, the project had already accrued over 14.8 million streams on Spotify. In the latter part of the 2020, Castillo released three more standalone singles:  "Tonight," "Párate," and "Wishlist."

Parallel Universe pt. 1 is a seven-song release that constitutes the first half of Castillo’s debut LP. Preceded by the singles "STFU (I Got U)" and "Indica", it was released in May 2021. Castillo will tour to promote her debut album at the end of 2021, with the album’s second half due imminently.
