Clinton Kane was born Clinton Kane Talabis Concon in 1999 to Filipino parents and was raised in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. Kane spent much of his youth in Norway, Perth, Australia, and the UK, and taught himself to play several instruments including guitar, piano, and drums. His two brothers are both singers - Gyver Jude Talabis Concon, known as "Jude Concon", is a Brunei pop star known for his "Time Machine" single, and "Marcos Jay" Talabis Concon also has original songs posted on his Soundcloud page. Coming from a religious background (his mother is a Christian preacher), Kane learned to sing and dance in church.
Kane began uploading songs to YouTube in 2016 and his covers of artists such as James Arthur, Ed Sheeran, the Weeknd, the Chainsmokers, and Khalid soon began attracting a large number of fans. As time went on, his confidence as a performer grew and in 2018, he began uploading original songs.
A panic attack led him to begin to write introspectively and the result was his debut EP, 2019’s This Is What It Feels Like. That year, Kane was signed to Columbia Records and released the five-track EP with the label after relocating to Los Angeles. That December, he released the single "So I Don't Let Me Down".
Dutch producer Martin Garrix heard This Is What It Feels Like and reached out to Kane to collaborate on the track "Drown," which was released on February 27, 2020, and reached number 12 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
On 19 February 2021, Kane released "Chicken Tendies", which peaked at number 16 on the ARIA singles chart and also charted on the UK Singles Chart and on the US Billboard Hot 100. His follow-up single, "I Guess I'm in Love", was released in August 2021 and also hit the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 22 on the UK Singles Chart
