About

You can’t talk about Las Colonias Amp without talking about the Park it’s a part of. Las Colonias Park is a huge 130 acre site that sits adjacent to downtown Grand Junction and lies along the banks of the Colorado River. This makes it an important location that serves the Grand Junction community, while also offering immersion into the natural beauty of one of the US’s most majestic rivers.

The park itself has a rich history and is actually upstream from the namesake of the community. It has a strong connection to its community and is even part of an ever-expanding Riverfront Trail system. And while keeping with its goals of community focus, it also maintains the modern facilities that you expect including the park itself, restrooms, shelters, and concession stands.

Las Colonias Amphitheater

The Las Colonias Amp is but one of the many facilities offered at the park. But it’s definitely one of the biggest and most important. It offers multi-functional opportunities for a variety of events with both small intimate community gatherings, standard public events, and large crowd festivals playing at the venue. And its prime location makes for a gorgeous backdrop to match the star-studded and thrilling events and concerts it hosts.

The venue's design is also a thing of beauty with plenty of thoughtful choices to create timeless and memorable shows and events. For example, the gently sloped lawn seating means that most guests will have a great view of the show no matter how far back or forward they’re sitting. It also offers room for about 4,000 guests for most events with plenty of room to see the show across its 40 x 60 stage. The stage also features plenty of back-of-house amenities to offer bands and musicians the support they need to play breathtaking shows before sold-out crowds.

How The Amp Was Funded

As a community focused venue, you can trust that the community had a large hand in supporting Las Colonias Amp. The community raised an incredible $2.1 million locally to match and then surpass a $1.6 million grant from the Department of Local Affairs. And this local fundraising came from a wide variety of sources. These sources include the Downtown Development Authority, Riverfront Foundation, Goodwin Foundation, Bacon Family Foundation, Grand Junction Lions Club, El Pomar Foundation, Gates Family Foundation, Department of Energy, Navarro, and the City of Grand Junction.

What this means is that Las Colonias Amphitheater is as much built by the community as it was by anyone else. And that’s why it holds such a special place in the heart of Grand Junction residents.

It’s not just about the music!

But what’s more than that is that Las Colonias Amp also offers some of the most pristine concert viewing environs in the world. Just imagine being on the lawn eating your choice of mouthwatering meals and snacks or tossing back your choice of cold and refreshing beverage while surrounded by the majestic beauty of the Colorado River. Every direction you look is filled with gorgeous and stunning views of nature that you won’t find anywhere else. And you’ll enjoy it all on some of the most comfortable grassy hills and fields around.

But what if you want to get close to the band?

Then Las Colonias Amp has you covered. Because every possible angle has been considered so that everyone in the crowd can enjoy clear sight on the stage. That means around 4,000 pairs of eyes catching every moment in their full and unbridled splendor. On top of that, the Las Colonias Amp has some of the cleanest audio equipment and acoustics in the world, so you can enjoy hearing every note and lyric as clear as a spring day.

It’s the kind of environment that welcomes legendary performances by mythical artists of all musical genres.

But don’t take our word for it

Las Colonias Amp is a high-ranking venue that ‘s got a near-perfect rank on Google and frequent praise online. Many guests love the amenities, love the staff, and can’t wait to come back for more. Their fully packed calendar has entertained audiences ever since the Amp first opened to the public and will continue to entertain for years to come.

Seating Chart

For most events, Las Colonias Amp has room for 4,000 guests across multiple seating areas. The seating is arranged for comfort with a heavy emphasis on the gently sloping hill lawn space to allow guests to have the best possible view of the stage and the events going on.

VIP Seating

To the side is a VIP area where guests may request extra services from the staff. This seating is limited and offered on a first come, first served basis.

Front Stage Seating

Closest to the stage is the reserved area where guests can get the most intimate connection with the performance and the best views of the musicians. This may be standing room only or reserved seating with folding chairs depending on the needs of the visiting musician and artist.

General Admission Seating

Behind this is the general admission seating area that is the best tradeoff between being close to the stage, close to amenities and concession stands, and having a sharp clear view of the stage. For most events this is standing room only, but this varies based on the event.

Lawn Seating

Behind that is the massive lawn space area, which is where most guests will be placed. This space is the best for guests who prefer comfort, space, and a stunning view of Grand Junction. Thankfully, the acoustics and sound engineering guarantees that you’ll have a great experience hearing the music as intended.

Las Colonias Amp  is an outdoor venue and shows typically occur in all elements of Colorado weather, so be prepared for adverse weather conditions, including full exposure to the sun, strong wind and even severe rain or snow. It is always wise to dress in layers, have a poncho on hand and to wear sunscreen.

Parking

Las Colonias Amp is located at 925 Struthers Avenue  |  Grand Junction, CO 81501 and is only a mile from Downtown Grand Junction. Your favorite GPS or map making software can get you to the venue on time. We recommend, however, that you arrive early so you can have plenty of time to find parking.

Parking is available east of the Amp at a $10 fee. Free options exist within a short walk from the venue, though these spaces often end up being filled fast on show nights. But don’t worry if you end up arriving far too soon for the show, since Downtown Grand Junction is home to dozens of locally-owned shops, restaurants, galleries, and plenty of public art to explore. And Las Colonias Park has plenty of amenities that you can enjoy as well.

If you prefer to use ridesharing or know someone in town, then drop off at the gates is permitted at all times. If you are planning for a pickup at the same location then be sure to give your ride plenty of time to arrive. Especially as post-concert exits can take a long time. Alternately, you may wait until the crowd dies down.

If you have any questions regarding parking at Las Colonias Amp, please call the venue at (970) 263-5700
