ABOUT HOT 8 BRASS BAND

Hot 8 Brass Band's name have been exploading across the music scene and it's pretty clear to see why!

Their group that started as a local New Orleans brass band busking on the streets has transformed into a international success, taking them to showcase their talents as a collective to global major venues, with a long list of previous sold out shows and a career that has spanned over the last two decades and counting.

Originally formed by the talented brass players and members of Bennie Pete, Jerome Jones and Harry Cook all the way back in the mid 1990's, previously from two local brass bands on the scene.

The Hot 8 Brass Band have stayed true to their New Orleans roots playing in the second line parades on Sunday afternoons, hosted by Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs as well as their regular concerts as part of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. With their features at local jazz nightclubs and traditional jazz funerals they built up a steady following and quickly became known for their flawless playing and their abilities for warming up a crowd, with their energetic unique approach. 

With help of the use of online platforms such as their music video releases via YouTube, they have been able to branch out to a wider fan base and it has truly paid off, with their following growing more and more each and every day.

BREAKTHROUGH AND INITIAL ALBUM RELEASES

Hot 8 Brass Band's ever growing popularity has taken them to all across North America, Europe, Japan and the UK.

Their fan base within the UK has particuarly developed bigger than ever, leading them to sign with the Brighton record label, Tru Thoughts in 2007 and becoming their first ever U.S. artist on their music roster. Their sign to Tru Thoughts also paved way to their creation of their music video for their cover version of 'Sexual Healing' originally by Marvin Gaye, where they walked around the streets of Brighton, England doing what they do best, getting the crowd excited and making them feel part of something special. 

With the help of their newly founded relationship with the label with Tru Thoughts, Hot 8 Brass Band were able to craft albums for their fans to listen to and get to know their songs from their debut release of Rock with The Hot 8 released the same year of securing their deal. 

Just one year later in 2018, the group were featured on The Blind Boys of Alabama's album titled Down in New Orleans which won Best Traditional Gospel Album at the 51st Grammy Awards for it's moving tribute to the music and creativity that radiates from the city.

By 2012, Hot 8 Brass Band were more than ready to record their own collection of songs once again and released their second album to date titled The Life and Times of the Hot 8 Brass Band. 

EXPERIENCES AND FURTHER RELEASES

The group member's have been through some tragic incidences throughout the years which has meant Hot 8 Brass Band have had to change their line up along the way. Due to handgun violence, many of their previous members have passed away at just the young ages of 17 and 25 and which have all been reported in the U.S. media. These unfortunate and upsetting events led Hot 8 Brass Band to write their third album as a sister record to their previous release, the record is dedicated to their former band members.

All of their challenges in their personal lives has helped shape and give even more meaning to the Hot 8 Brass Band's sound, with their music heavily rooted by New Orleans culture and history, they all individually and collectively make an effort to constantly learn and take influence from traditional brass songs and of course their impeccible musicianship which is firmly maintained as a family-like unit.

From tragedy and triumph, the unstoppable Hot 8 Brass Band continues to storm the world with their concerts and both their local and international tours. These guys are experts at giving their fans a show to remember as they always bring a smile and feel good energy to each and every person in the crowd.
