Rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer Felly (born Christian Felner) first began making music in 2011 whilst still in high school, building a following on YouTube from making and selling hip-hop beats. He went on to attend the University of Southern California, where he studied music and founded 2273 Records with fellow USC attendees Jake Standley and Gyyps.
At USC, he released several mixtapes and an EP. It was 2014’s mixtape Waking Up to Sirens (featuring the single "Fabrics") that began to build a major buzz around him, leading to an appearance opening for Madlib. A second mixtape, Milk and Sugar, was released that November and featured the track "Tell Me" with Ari Lennox. The following July saw the release of his third mixtape, This Shit Comes in Waves, which featured the single "7th King". He then embarked on the 7th King Tour in the US for 21 dates in early-2016. July 2016 saw Felly release the EP Young Fel and head out on another tour in support of the release, which featured the single "Desert Eagle" (featuring Gyyps).
The Mermaid Gang Tour (named after the group formed by Felly, Gyyps, and Trip Carter) was a 2017 40-date tour with sets from all three artists. 2017 was a prolific year for Felly, who created a summer series called New Flavors which saw him release a new song each Wednesday over that summer, including "Ali", "Baby Boy", "Fight the Feeling", "Delta Deathbus to Zion" (featuring Peter $un), "Hotel Room", "Keep The Team Straight". He signed to Cinematic Music Group and that August released his debut studio album, Wild Strawberries. That fall, he opened for T-Pain for two nights on his Acoustic Tour, before embarking on his own 20-date Strawberry Season Tour.
In March 2018, Felly released the EP Winters in Brooklyn, which launched the single "BLANCO". That September, he signed to Same Plate Entertainment, a joint venture with Sony Music, and released his debut album on the label, Surf Trap, later that month. The album was preceded by the lead single "Pretty Girl" followed by "Miami".
2019 saw more new music from Felly, including the tracks "At Fault" (with Medasin) and "Cheap Cheap" (with Jack Harlow), as well as a feature on the MAX song, "Acid Dreams". That October, he released the track "Heartstrings," with Carlos Santana on guitar, which appeared on 2020's album Mariposa.
In 2021, Felly released Young Fel 2 – a sequel to his 2016 EP.
