THE AVETT BROTHERS
With their groundbreaking songs, The Avett Brothers have grabbed the spotlight ever since they made their debut on the music scene. With their talented band they have showcased their abilities both as a unit and individually with the brothers behind the group - Scott Avett on banjo, lead vocals, guitar, piano and kick drum and Seth Avett on guitar, vocals, piano and hi-hat. Since perfoming as a duo they accquired their equally talented members; Bob Crawford who plays double bass, electric bass, violin and provides backing vocals along with Joe Kwon on cello and also backing vocals.
As The Avett Brothers are so often out on the road, they have also picked up incredible musicians such as Mike Marsh who plays the drums and Tania Elizabeth on Fiddle, as well as Bonnie Avett-Rini on Piano, all of which joined them when they perform live and head out on tours.
From the early days of the band, brothers Seth and Scott crafted their own sound by creating songs which covered all genres from Bluegrass, Country, Pop, Punk, Folk, Indie and Rock n Roll as well as the occassional Honky Tonk, in their first group Nemo, they were said to have styles which brought to mind some of the greats from The Beatles to The Ramones.
With their background of performing around their hometown of Concord, North Carolina, Seth and Scott progressed to honing in on Folk Rock and decided to form their own band under the brothers name. With huge experience of making music throughout their childhood, Scott and Seth were more than used to writing songs and playing together, which has created a family approach to their project and has given The Avett Brothers even more stage presence and charisma - that their fans love and know them for today!
EMOTIONALISM & BREAKTHROUGH YEARS
With their soundscape mapped up, The Avett Brothers continued to perform and create their studio albums, with this they built up a solid fan base, not just in their hometown area but across North America and by 2007, The Avett Brothers brought out their fourth album and found their initial chart success. Emotionalism took their career to the next level as it shot to the top of the Billboard charts and became a firm favorite with Folk and Alternative fans.
Due to the popularity of the record, The Avett Brothers headed out on tour with their newly found live musicians and performed special versions of the album tracks.
By 2009, The Avett Brothers had gained extensive touring experience along with high recogniztion from critics and reviewers alike and were included in countless must-listen and must-see artist lists. With so much hype and excitement surrounding their music, fans were on the edge of their seats waiting for the next release and in Fall 2009, The Avett Brothers gave to the world their fifth studio release of I and Love and You. The album was a huge success on the Billboard charts as well as increased digital sales and The Avett Brothers became number one on the folk albums charts.
With performances across live TV shows such as Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and appearences on Austin City Limits, The Avett Brothers were now widely known and highly respected for their effortless musicianship throughout their mind blowing concerts and of course, their flawless studio material.
After a full power tour and a heavy personal matter within the band, The Avett Brothers decided to take a well earned break in 2011, but the hiatus didn't last long and just a year later, they were back at the top of their game with a brand new album to follow.
THE CARPENTER AND THE MAGPIE AND THE DANDIELION
In follow up to their previous release of I and Love and You, The Avett Brothers dropped the news of their sixth studio release in 2012 and gave their fans something to tune into with their preview single "Live and Die" - with once again a successful start, the album hit the number four position on the Billboard 200 and gained a Grammy Award nomination.
The Avett Brothers showcased their brand new record with performances around the US, such as their show at the Bottlerock Music Festival in California.
The Carpenter album was at the top of every must-listen to album list and The Avett Brothers kept the energy going with an announcement of yet another record to be released in the fall of 2013, Magpie and The Dandelion was another groundbreaking success as it recieved positive praise from critics and hit the number five position on the Billboard 200 charts within just a week after it's release.
With two incredible records within the space of just two years, The Avett Brothers took their music far and wide and played iconic shows at some of the biggest venues in North America.
TRUE SADNESS - PRESENT
Just when you thought The Avett Brothers couldn't top all of their flawless work to date, in 2016 they spread word of their ninth studio album, True Sadness which is meant to be a true representation of everything that the band has learnt along the way, musically highlighting on all of their talent and experience and lyrically including memories that they had built together, as it hit the top 3 position on the Billboard Top 200, the record was described as one of their most experimental pieces to date with it's "willingness to tear down boundaries." True Sadness was nominated for awards for Best Americana Album and Best Americana Roots Performance and gained the up most positivity for it's impressive soundscape.
The Avett Brothers continued on their journey and worked on new material during 2018 and in 2019 brought to light their newest record to date - Closer Than Together. With hit singles such as "Trouble Letting Go" and "Neapolitan Sky" they rocked the charts once again and the record is said to be a true representation on what is happening today in the world and at this incredible stage in The Avett Brother's career as it topped the Billboard charts and reached a number two position.
With their exciting singles out now from the record, The Avett Brothers have created an even bigger fan following and 2020 is set to be another out of this world year for them as they set out on tour.
