ABOUT MISTERWIVES

Indie-pop band MisterWives was formed in New York City in 2012 and consists of lead singer Mandy Lee, percussionist Etienne Bowler, bass guitarist William Hehir, guitarist Marc Campbell, saxophonist Mike Murphy, and multi-instrumentalist Jesse Blum. The idea of a band first came about because Lee wanted an 80s cover group for a birthday party and recruited Hehir, who she had met through a mutual friend, and Bowler, who she was introduced to later. After they began rehearsing together, Bowler's friends Blum and Campbell joined them to make a five-piece (Murphy joined the band after they had begun performing together).

CAREER

2013: Early career

The band played its first show on February 1, 2013, at the Canal Room in New York City. The day after, they were signed to Photo Finish Records. In October 2013, the band toured with indie-rock band Half Moon Run, shortly followed by a six-week tour with American Authors and The Royal Concept. That December, they released a trap remix of "Coffins" with the Pegboard Nerds through the Canadian label Monstercat.

2014: Reflections

Reflections, the band’s debut EP, was released on January 7, 2014. It peaked at number 84 on the Billboard 200 and reached the top 30 on the Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts. Two singles were released from the album: "Reflections" and "Vagabond", with "Reflections" charting at number 13 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Chart. In July 2014, "Vagabond" was made the opening theme of the MTV Teen Drama Finding Carter.

Reflections was critically acclaimed and led to the band appearing on VH1's Big Morning Buzz and ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live. They also supported Twenty One Pilots on their Vessel Tour and were invited back to open for them on their 2018 Bandito Tour.

2015: Our Own House

The band released its debut studio album, Our Own House, on February 24, 2015. The album peaked at number 31 on the Billboard 200 and also reached number seven on the Top Alternative Albums Chart, and the top 15 on the Digital Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. They supported the release with a tour of the same name, before playing music festivals such as Boston Calling Music Festival, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Hangout Fest, LouFest, and Austin City Limits. They then embarked on their Scrapbook Tour.

2016-present: Connect the Dots and Superbloom

The band spent 2016 working on its second album. The lead single from the record, "Machine", was released on February 17, 2017. From the end of February through April, MisterWives toured with Panic! At the Disco on their Death of a Bachelor Tour. They released their album, Connect the Dots, on May 19. "Oh Love", the album’s second single, was released on March 30, 2017, and "Drummer Boy" on April 20.

Throughout June, the band went on the MisterWives Band Camp Tour. On September 21, 2017, they began their Connect the Dots tour with bands Vinyl Theatre and Smallpools, which ran until April 2018. For the rest of April and into May, they were on the Let The Light In tour. Then, throughout June and July, they toured with Thirty Seconds To Mars alongside WALK THE MOON and Joywave on the Monolith Tour. For the rest of the year, they played at several music festivals and began working on their next studio album. Lee and Bowler were wed in August 2018.

In 2019, the band was signed to Fueled By Ramen and on July 30, 2019, the band posted the video for their single "whywhywhy" – their first single on the label. That November, they embarked on the No Place Like Home Tour and also released a five-track EP: Mini Bloom.

On May 18, 2020, the band posted on Instagram that Lee and Bowler had separated, but that the band would stay together, continuing to make music and tour. Superbloom, their third studio album, was released on July 24, 2020, containing tracks from the previous EP.

The band gave a special performance of Superbloom, titled SUPERBLOOM: The Live Dream, on the digital live platform Moment House on December 12, 2021.
