ABOUT TAUREN WELLS

Tauren Wells is a Christian pop-rock and R&B artist and a worship leader at Lakewood Church, Houston, Texas. Whilst attending Indiana Bible College in 2004, he co-founded the Christian pop-rock band Royal Tailor alongside DJ Cox and Blake Hubbard. The band produced two albums over a five-year career, and earned two Grammy nominations and a New Artist of the Year award from the Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, before disbanding in 2015.

CAREER

Wells signed to Reunion Records (Provident Label Group/Sony) as a solo artist in 2016, releasing his debut single, "Undefeated" (featuring rapper KB), that May. His second single, "Love Is Action", was released that August, followed by his debut solo EP, Undefeated EP, on September 12, 2016.

"Hills and Valleys", which was released in January 2017, reached number eight on the Christian Airplay Chart and number three on the Hot Christian Songs chart. The single was certified platinum by the RIAA and was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song at the 2018 Grammy Awards. His debut album, Hills and Valleys, was released on June 23, 2017. The album’s fourth single, "When We Pray", was released that October and reached number seven. Later that year, Wells was featured on Crowder's single "All My Hope", which peaked at number three on the Christian Songs chart and topped the Christian Airplay chart, becoming his first number one.

At the 2018 Grammy Awards, in addition to his nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song, Wells received a nomination for Contemporary Christian Album of the Year for Hills and Valleys.

"Known", the fifth single from Hills and Valleys, was released on June 23, 2018. It peaked at number three on the US Hot Christian Songs chart, becoming his fourth Top 10 single from that chart. It was nominated for the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song and also received the nomination for Top Christian Song at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards.

Citizen of Heaven, Wells’ second studio album, was released on January 24, 2010, preceded by the singles "Miracle", "Perfect Peace", and "Like You Love Me". The album debuted at number three on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart and also charted on the Billboard 200. It won the GMA Dove Award for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year at the 2020 GMA Dove Awards and was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

In early 2022, Wells released the singles "Fake It", "Empty", and "Come Home" in the lead up to the release of his third studio album, Joy in the Morning.
