Country music singer and songwriter Morgan Wallen was born and raised in Sneedville, Tennessee. A musical child, he took piano and violin lessons as a youngster. Wallen initially planned to make his career as a baseball player but switched to music after an elbow injury.

He was a contestant on season 6 of NBC’s televised singing competition The Voice. He was part of both Usher and Adam Levine’s teams but was ultimately eliminated.

2015: Panacea Records and Stand Alone EP

For the recording of The Voice, Wallen was in California, where he began working with Sergio Sanchez of Atom Smash. Around this time, Sanchez introduced him to Bill Ray and Paul Trust of Panacea Records. Wallen signed to the label in 2015 and released his debut EP, Stand Alone, on August 24, 2015. "Spin You Around", his debut single from the EP, has now been certified gold by the RIAA. That year, his manager, Dirk Hemsath of Working Group Artist Management, sent a demo of Wallen to Seth England from Big Loud Shirt. After auditioning for Big Loud Records, he was signed to the label and publishing company.

2016-2019: Big Loud Records and If I Know Me

"The Way I Talk", Wallen’s debut single on Big Loud Records, was released on September 12, 2016 and reached number 30 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and number 35 on the Hot Country Songs chart. That year, he also co-wrote the A Thousand Horses single "Preachin' to the Choir".

April 2017 brought a music video for "The Way I Talk". 2017 also brought an opening slot for Florida Georgia Line on their Dig Your Roots Tour. He joined with Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard, as well as Brian Kelley and Jordan Schmidt, to co-write the Jason Aldean single "You Make It Easy".

Wallen released his second studio album, If I Know Me, on April 27, 2018. "Up Down" featuring Florida Georgia Line, the album’s second single, reached number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and number five on the Hot Country Songs chart. This was followed in July by "Whiskey Glasses", which reached number one on both the Hot Country Songs chart and the Billboard Country Airplay chart, as well as reaching number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100.

For five months of 2019, Wallen was the opening act for Florida Georgia Line’s Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour. That July, he released the single "Chasin' You", which became his third consecutive number one hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. The single also peaked a number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. Dallas Smith’s 2019 single "The Fall" features Wallen as a co-writer.

After a record-breaking 114 weeks, If I Know Me reached number one on the Hot Country Albums chart in August 2020.

2020-present: Dangerous

"More Than My Hometown", the lead single to his upcoming second studio album, was released in May 2020 and reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. "7 Summers", his next release, came out that August and broke the record for the most first-day streams for a country song on Apple Music. The single also earned him his first top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, debuting and peaking at number six, and was chosen by Time magazine as one of the best songs of 2020.

Released on January 8, 2021, Dangerous: The Double Album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and US Top Country Albums charts. It also topped the Canadian chart for four consecutive weeks and stayed at number one on the US chart for six consecutive weeks – the first new album from a country artist to do so since 1992’s The Chase by Garth Brooks. 2021 saw Wallen become the first artist to ever chart six songs within the top 10 of Hot Country Songs at the same time in the week after his album's release, with "Wasted on You", "More Than My Hometown", "Somebody's Problem", "7 Summers", "Sand in My Boots", and "Warning".
